Sankisa is located in Farrukhabad district of Uttar Pradesh. The nearest airport is in Agra.
It is an important Buddhist pilgrimage destination of India.
There is a Swarga Avataran statue of Buddha and a Buddhist Dharam Stambha also survives.Sankisa lies in central Uttar Pradesh, about 47 km from Farrukhabad city in central UP, India.
It is believed, that it was the geographical position of Shakyamuni's descent from heaven, along with Bramha and Devraj Indra, after giving sermons to his mother in heaven.At the spot of earthly descent, there now stands a temple with a statue of Buddha.The place is also known for a Hindu temple dedicated to Bisari Devi and an excavated, Mauryan dynasty elephant stone pillar.
There is also large Shiva Linga in Sankisa.
During the Indian monsoon season, an annual rural fair is held at Sankisa, in the month of Shravan.
